Fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow specialist Dr. Holt Cutler is an orthopaedic surgeon with specialized expertise in the comprehensive management of shoulder and elbow disorders and injuries, practicing at Carrell Clinic. A native of Dallas, Dr. Cutler graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas.
His educational journey includes earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by a postbaccalaureate premedical program at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Cutler obtained his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he was honored with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.
Returning to Dallas, Dr. Cutler completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he was recognized with the Vert Mooney Award for Academic Achievement and the G. Truett James Award for Excellence in Teaching. He furthered his expertise through fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving the Joseph P. Iannotti Award for Excellence in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. His training encompassed advanced techniques in minimally invasive shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement surgery, and shoulder labral repair. He was also trained in care for a number of conditions, including separated shoulders, rotator cuff disorders, shoulder instability, tendon injuries, elbow injuries, and sports-related injuries as well as general upper extremity trauma.
Dedicated to providing individualized care, Dr. Cutler collaborates closely with patients to devise personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific injury or condition. He is proficient in both surgical and nonsurgical options for shoulder and elbow issues, prioritizing effective communication to ensure optimal patient care and facilitate their return to normal activities.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Cutler enjoys spending quality time with his family. He also stays active and likes to run, cycle, and sail.
